WE DO NOT HAVE MUCH TIME! Most Democrats are supporting Prop 50 100%. It would be great to get the word out. Please share your thoughts, ideas, and action plans with us. We hope to collaborate with you and others on this vital proposition and have fun working on this important issue.

Here are some talking point facts
What is Proposition 50, The Election Rigging Response Act?
● A California ballot measure that allows the state to counteract extreme gerrymandering in Texas and other states.
● It adjusts California’s congressional maps temporarily. Expires in 2030 – it’s not permanent. Redistricting is typically done every 10 years, following each U.S. Census.
● This is democracy: letting the voters decide in November.
Why are we doing this?
● Many Project 2025 and Trump actions are very unpopular.
● This may lead to Republicans being voted out of office in the midterms next year
● In fear of losing power, President Trump told Gov. Abbott of Texas to do an emergency redistricting to “get me five more seats in Congress.” Texas obeyed.
● Isn’t this just “fighting cheating with cheating”?
No – two significant differences:
1. California voters decide – it’s democracy in action, not politicians behind closed doors.
2. It’s temporary – expires in 2030, Texas’ new map is permanent.
Who benefits from Prop 50?
● All Americans - it makes elections reflect the votes of the people instead of political parties.
● In Shasta County alone, 67 thousand citizens are receiving Medicaid medical services. Trump and Doug LaMalfa cut Medicaid. Hospitals, clinics, recovery programs, disability services, in-home health services, and placement in skilled nursing homes are on the chopping block under the Trump–LaMalfa Big Beautiful Bill plan.
● Not only health services but also food programs for children, working families (the majority of all SNAP recipients), and even veterans and Meals on Wheels for our senior citizens will be drastically cut or eliminated.
● Remember, Congressional Democrats proposed nationwide independent redistricting, but all republicans voted no.
● Prop 50 is a temporary, voter-approved exception meant to counteract manipulation by another state.
Bottom Line
● Prop 50 = Using democracy to save democracy.
● Prop 50 is Temporary
● Prop 50 is Voter-approved, a fair response to protect Californians.
● Prop 50 uses a fair, ethical democratic process (the people vote) to stop power-hungry politicians and billionaires from cutting every voter in this country out of our right to vote!
